A Football Match

The match between our school and the boys of Suria was a keenly contested game. It was held in our school football ground and was witnessed by about two thousand spectators. For the first few minutes the Suria boys had the better of the game. But our players rose to the occasion and defended heroically. From a long pass our right-out ran fast with the ball along the touch line. He then passed the ball on to the striker in the penalty box and the latter made no mistake in scoring the first goal. The equaliser came in about ten minutes later. The excitement never died down. Both the teams matched in skill and stamina. Immediately after the interval our left striker passed the ball to the left out in the midfield who darted down' very fast towards the opposite goal line. Then he centered the ball accurately right on the penalty edge. Our striker shook off the challenge from a defender, jumped up and headed in a perfect goal. The game was played in a proper spirit and was enjoyed equally by the players and the spectators.
