Terrorism means the subversive and destructive activities by a group of people to coerce a government to yield to their demands. Terrorism made its ugly appearance in recent times in Palestine and Israel. In India, divisive forces with abetmen from outside indulge in acts of terrorism in Jammu and Kashmere. Hijaking of planes, blowing up of railways and bridges, annihilation of bus load of passengers-all are instances of terrorist activities that killed hundreds of innocent lives. The memories of the explosion of the Air India aircraft 'Kaniska' in the mid air still haunt us. The attacks on the World Trade Centre twin towers in New York, the Jammu and Kashmir Assembly House, Indian Parliament House and the Bombay blast are acts of terrorism of the worst form that shook the whole world. Such wanton killings and destructions cause irreparable damages to the country. The progress of the country suffers a great set back in absence of a congenial atmosphere. Terrorism should be dealt with ruthlessly with unstincted courage and determination. A group of senseless people cannot be allowed to hold the country to ransom. Firmness and tact only will bring back a stable political and economic environment.
